Douglas
Court has written exclusively for Curnow Music since 1994. Doug is a
native of Toronto, Canada and received his early musical training in The
Salvation Army. His formal training was received at the University of
Toronto where he studied trumpet and graduated with a Bachelor of Music
Education degree. Doug has also studied composition at the University of
South Florida. While living in Toronto, Doug worked as a freelance trumpet player performing with groups such as the Canadian Opera Company orchestra. From 1986 through 1995 Doug held the position of Divisional Music Director for The Salvation Army in the state of Florida. This position allowed for extensive work with young musicians, running summer music conservatories, teaching private lessons as well as conducting both adult and youth ensembles. Doug also has many instrumental and vocal pieces published by The Salvation Army. Besides regular contributions to the Curnow catalog, Doug's latest projects have included a solo written for Philip Smith and featured on his latest solo recording, as well as a suite for Euphonium written for Steven Kellner of the United States Marine band entitled "Spiritual Fantasy". Since 1995 Doug has pursued full time writing for Curnow Music and now lives in Atlanta, GA. with his wife and three children. |
