They may have to do their only combined rehearsal shortly before the worship service begins.  Until the advent of play-along CDs, soloists sometimes didn’t even have a rough idea of what the accompaniment would sound like until it was almost time to go on stage.

Judicious use of the play-along CD can help to solve problems caused by today’s busy schedules, even if you don’t actually use the CD in the performance.
