Besides playing the trombone in his high school band, Graydon Toms also wrote the music for the band’s competition half time show, and the fanfare used for their 1976 Rose Parade performance. In 1977, Mr. Toms earned top honors in the Chapman College Composition/Theory program while also studying trombone, piano and voice. From 1978-1982, while also working as a professional musician and composer, Toms earned his B.A. in music education at San Diego State University, with emphases in composition, piano, voice and trombone.

Since 1983, Mr Toms has taught public school music to children in grades K-12, producing sweepstakes winning bands, jazz bands, choruses, and show choirs.  In 1991, Mr. Toms earned his M.A. from San Bernardino State University in music composition and theatre, with a complete musical play as his thesis.  Mr. Toms currently teaches band, chorus, piano and general music at the elementary school level.
